Here’s what Herby told his wife when he told her he wanted to quit and start a new company:
I’ve been to the bottom. I don’t believe I’m not going to make it.
His point of reference was where he was in Haiti, to where he could be even if the business didn’t make it. He was still going to try.
Whatever I have done today, I gotta double the effort because I have no idea when my next paycheck is coming.
First year they made $49,000 in revenue.
Second year they made $900,000 in net revenue.
The way he learned the most about entrepreneurship, is he asked people around him that were in business, and asked them for their time. He soaked in all their experiences, lessons and the path they took in business.
Herby’s immigrant entrepreneurship started at 43 years old and he says it’s never too late!
If you think about it, you dream it, you get it done.
Herby says that he’s got a lot less stress being an entrepreneur than what he went through working as an employee.
The advise he gives to the immigrant entrepreneurs:
Go all in. Just do it. Don’t have one foot in, and one foot out. Just do it.
