Veena’s immigration journey was not all that easy. She was denied three times when she applied for a visa. She had to fight for her entrance, but with her determination she knew she wanted to be in the US.
She immigrated when she was 22 years old and when she was in her PhD program life took her by surprise. A random act by a stranger lead her to open up her business with a co-founder.
She’s in the augmented/virtual reality industry and what their company is doing with rehabilitation is absolutely revolutionary.
Their clients experience a lot less limitations by doing virtual reality rehab exercises.
Veena is full of energy and extremely passionate to change the healthcare industry by revolutionizing rehabilitation exercises. Her journey is definitely one of a kind.
Quotes by Veena
I was rejected thrice for a tourist visa.
As a person I’ve always been frugal with money and I’ve used the same concept in the company.
When you have access only to a certain amount, you try to figure out how to reach your goals with that much.
I lean on my mentors a lot.
As you work with people and you understand who’s really there for you.
I like learning from people.
I try to learn from other founders and it’s amazing to understand what they went through.
Mentors bring different perspectives.
The mistake we do as maybe women, and maybe immigrants, we know that we can do a lot but we still set our expectations too low and we need someone from the outside saying you can do more than this, and your company could be bigger than this.
When I have to read something, I do a quick check in my head: “Is this something that is helping my career, or is this something that I’m just distracting myself with?”
The sky’s the limit in the US.
There are people that can help you out and you just have to find them.
We have one life, so try things out.
