I can’t stand reading chapter titles in books all because they give away the exciting thing I’m just about to read. Why would I waste my energy and focus on what the chapter title just gave away? So I choose not to bother with reading the chapter titles, ever.
I skip right through them, they do not exist to me.
I went to college and hold a Bachelor’s degree. I’ve read through hundreds of college papers and wrote them myself. But who made this rule? Why do we need chapter titles in books? I would be just fine picking up a book without any titles, or subtitles at all.
Imagine if we were watching a movie, and every 10 minutes there was a title that popped up giving away the secrets of what you’re just about to watch. The movie will be doomed. You’ll get me shutting off the TV right when the first title popped up.
It makes no sense having chapter titles exist in books. If you write a compelling book, you don’t get me throwing it away just because I skipped through reading the chapter titles. I am hooked regardless of what your titles are!
