I was watching a video where they were interviewing potential candidates that want to fly to Mars and live there. Well the host was interviewing this young gal and asked her, “Don’t you think it’s crazy to move to Mars???”
Her response is: “define crazy.”
That was powerful.
What her crazy is not our crazy. For her, it’s completely normal to remove herself from planet Earth and move to a foreign location, Mars.
At the same time, for her it’s crazy to get married, have kids, and work a boring job for the rest of your life. That, to her that is absolutely crazy!
Everyone has their own “crazy” definitions that would portray to someone as completely normal and without a doubt, opposite of crazy.
For some, being an entrepreneur, taking that risk and always being in the unknown is crazy!
For others, having a boring 9-5 job for 20+ years is crazy!
For some, buying $900 purses is the norm, for others it’s CRAZY.
For some, spending more than $100 on a meal is crazy, for others it’s the norm.
Define your crazy and define what your norm is.
Living in Mars for me is absolutely: crazy. But skydiving, scuba diving, and bungee jumping is not crazy. Although I do see if someone is afraid of heights can think it’s absolutely crazy to go skydiving and do extreme sports that involve heights.
Some people like to live in the norm, and have an uneventful life. That to them is where they are at complete satisfaction. To them that is where they are at peace and complete serenity. They don’t need anything else, and they don’t like to be bothered with new fashion, new tech gear, or even a new couch.
So what is your crazy?
Don’t worry about what other people think your “crazy” is, and what your “norm” is. Don’t let anyone stop you from following your dreams that other think you’re absolutely crazy for!
As you know, everyone was calling the Wright Brothers, Albert Einstein, Henry Ford, Oliver Evans and Tim-Berners-Lee all crazy because they were inventing things that other people did not see. Between all these inventors we have the first successful airplane, the first light bulb, the first car, the first fridge, and the World Wide Web all invented by “crazies.”
Do you one day wish to create your own company and call your own schedule? Do you one day wish to make a change in this world? Do you wish, wish, and wish for new changes in your life.. but others are saying you’re “crazy?”
