BENEFITS OF FOLDING USING THE KONMARI METHOD.
- Doesn’t take much time when you’re folding your laundry
- It leaves virtually no wrinkles and saves tons of closet/drawer space
- You don’t need extra folding gadgets
I recently did a blog post on using the Konmari method to folding sweaters, but now let’s take a look at folding tshirts.
So, let’s begin!
Your hands provide natural heat, so you want to make sure you’re “ironing” on each steps of this process by smoothing out your garments.
Bring in your left side of the tshirt to 2/3s of the way – not quiet half way. Fold in your sleeve like shown below.
Make sure you smooth the tshirt out with your hands.
Bring in the right side of the tshirt to the end of the left side.
Smooth out the tshirt.
Bring in the top of the tshirt (the part where the tag is) and fold down to the bottom of the tshirt leaving a little gap at the end. If you don’t leave a gap at the end, your tshirts will not stand on their own (and that’s the key).
Smooth out the tshirt with your hands.
Visualize three sections on your tshirt.
Grab the top, first (1/3) section, and fold it down towards the bottom and smooth it out.
Fold one more time.
When transitioning to using this Konmari method, please don’t run to the Container Store to buy any new organizational compartments for your drawers/closets. I use cardboard boxes (typically from Amazon orders) and cut them short to fit in my drawers.
This method and Konmari method is explained in great detail in Marie Kondo’s book, Spark Joy. Make sure you check it out!
