Do you live by the motto “everything in moderation?”
We allow ourselves to indulge on junk food, crappy relationships, media, shopping, bad habits, laziness, because everything in moderation is okay.
So we dive into one pastry a week at work because we work so hard and we need to reward ourselves. So, one donut today, one slice of pizza tomorrow, and just one burger for dinner.
One soda, one bag of chips, one bagel and we’ll all be happy and healthy because we allow ourselves to be in the happy zone of everything in moderation.
Hey.. just live life on the wild side and eat everything your heart desires, but in moderation! You only live once, so you gotta enjoy everything that life has to offer!
So, we see the spiral weight gain on our bodies, and to our surprise we have no idea how it piled up. The weight gain has increased more than we’ve ever seen in the past several decades. You allow yourself to eat everything in moderation, so a cookie a night should be fine.
That cookie turns into several in the morning, and then several throughout the entire day. One can of soda turns slowly into a few a day. That’s how we see the massive weight gain amongst children and adults more than ever.
It only started with the motto: everything in moderation.
There’s about 138 calories in one can of soda. If your moderation lifestyle allows you to have one can of soda twice a week, that’s an extra 14,352 calories you’re putting on in one year.
That will put you at 4 extra pounds in one year.
…just by drinking 2 sodas a week.
What about when we allow ourselves to shop every once in a while.. in moderation of course! If we allow ourselves to drift away mindlessly, scrolling through social media feeds and checking out the newsletters we signed up for, we will continue to shop and stock our deep dark closets with exciting materials.
We stock up on anywhere from rayon, cotton, silk, linen, polyester, wool, spandex, nylon, etc. and shove them into our deep dark closets.
But.. why?
We buy on impulse. We buy because we deserve it. We buy because we worked so hard for it. We buy because we saw it on social media all in the honor of “everything in moderation.”
We buy anything we want, because everything in moderation is fine. That keeps us sane. It keeps us living an exciting and thrilling life. Just one more pair of jeans, one pair of shoes, cardigan, and the list continues.
Everything we purchase always has a legitimate purpose, but 90% of the time it can be avoided or delayed.
The next thing we know we’re piled up in massive amounts of debt and we don’t even know how it all happened. As if it was not us, hitting that ADD TO CART button and that CHECKOUT button.
As if it wasn’t us, saying that another pair of shoes is okay because everything in moderation is just fine.
What happened when we first started on social media? We started off, with the mentality of I’ll just be posting once a week, maybe even less. The thought was to be connected to our family and friends, and keep social media on the back burner.. whenever I have extra time to kill.
Once a week check-ins turned quickly into daily check-ins. We went about our days not thinking of our next post, to constantly taking Instagram/Facebook ready photos. Hashtags and thought provoking titles started to take over every free time we had.
But it all started with the thought of “I’ll only check social media when I have time.” Now, social media became our around the clock job, that we don’t get a paycheck for.
Everything in moderation is not the key to success in any aspect of life.
Everything in moderation puts extra weight on, puts stress on our bodies, health, and mind.
The key is to cut out all distractions that lead to weight gain, stress, put a toll on our bodies, mind and soul. Cut out the emotional food intake, the emotional relationships, the uncontrollable time spent on social media.
When you do cut it out completely, that is when you’re finally free. That is when you become in control of your actions and your daily life.
When you cut out all junk food, alcohol, sodas, and the afternoon “pick me ups,” you will start seeing a transformation in your body and mind.
When you cut out the unhealthy relationships completely, you will have complete freedom.
When you cut out social media out of your life completely, you will become the most productive person of yourself you’ve ever seen.
You will have all the time in the world to catch up on your dreams and aspirations. The time wasted will be recovered quicker than ever. You will become focused and determined to regain your relationships that have been hanging on a thin thread.
