You get excited when youâre shopping for a new house/apartment. You sign the papers to move in and your adrenaline rush is spiked. You unpack and get settled in. Youâre telling everyone and their mom about how you just moved in and how everything is just AMAZING. So you invite your friends and family over to see your ânewâ dwelling place.
A few weeks goes by and that excitement that was once there has since drowned into the dead sea.
The house/apartment becomes, eehh.. okay. Itâs not the greatest thing ever anymore. Youâre not enjoying it as much as you use to. In fact, the dwelling place looks old, rusty and itâs probably time to get out and start looking for a new place.
This happens to every single item that we purchase. The excitement is high when we purchase a new pair of jeans, camera, laptop, hair products, sunglasses, bike, car, etc. But after several uses, the items become dull in our heads. Every single item you purchase comes with a thrill, but it never lasts.
That high wears off and you end up storing your goods in deep dark closets and garages. To the point where some people need to pay for monthly storage for someone else to store their junk.
What about the endless thrill that you get from just living?
Does that even exist? Can you have a thrill of waking up every morning, and be excited that you have a new day, and be thrilled for new opportunities that await you instead of constantly searching for something bigger and better?
Yes, that does happen and it does exist. It starts with a mind change. By becoming dead to consuming and alive to living and breathing.
